With a total construction area of 10,600 square meters, Xie Zilong Photography Museum is currently the largest public image art museum in China and has been open to the public since 2017. It integrates image collection, exhibition, academic research and communication, actively promotes exchanges between Chinese photographic art institutions, and builds the richest historical photography museum collection system in China.

Photographic Moments: The Emergence of Photographic Visuality in China

The exhibition is divided into five units, covering different aspects of early Chinese photography, including "The Age of World Images", "Gazes and Expressions: The Aura of Photography", "Photography as an Expression of the Literati", "Photography and the Discourse of National Character" and "Photography and Miscellaneous Visual Media".

It includes photographs, slides, pictorials, paintings, archives and other types of exhibits, in order to show and tell the public how photography and the modern visual mechanism it spawned were accepted and transformed by the Chinese, and even influenced our understanding of photography today.
